Liam Tomlin is the internationally renowned chef and restauranteur behind the Chefs Warehouse group of seven restaurants and a drinks lounge in and around Cape Town.

The group’s first-born, Chefs Warehouse and Canteen, opened on Cape Town’s Bree Street in 2014. It was ground zero for the pioneering concept of Tapas for Two, which brought global tapas to Cape Town.

On the heels of its success, Tomlin expanded in concept and location, always applying the same degree of excellence and care, both in product and people.

Suspended over Constantia’s sloping vineyards, CHEFS WAREHOUSE AT BEAU CONSTANTIA is jointly owned by Liam and acclaimed chef Ivor Jones, who has a passion for the cuisines of Southeast Asia and is known for some of South Africa’s most exciting food.

Here, fresh,bold flavours are exquisitely presented tapas-style in this informally chic modern space.

THALI is a modern Indian restaurant just off Cape Town’s vibey Kloof Street, inspired by the depth and breadth of flavours in Indian regional cooking. Far from your normal curry joint, meals are composed of lots of small dishes and served in three generous courses, in a warm and mellow indoor-outdoor space pervaded by the colours and aromas of toasted spices.

CHEFS WAREHOUSE AT MAISON brings big flavour and real-deal farm-to-table eating to the Franschhoek Valley, with a relaxed wine valley style. A co-venture between Liam and chef David Schneider, who is bullish on producing everything in-house, Maison’s four-course Tapas for Two menu playfully explores themes of garden, sea, street and family.

 

THE RED ROOM is a smart, sophisticated pan-Asian underground restaurant, located at the Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel. Inspired by the melting pot that is Hong Kong, the menu features true-to-their-origin dishes from China, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, The Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia, in the form of small plates and dim sum, as well as more generous dishes from the Robata Grill, and even the iconic Peking Duck.

Dramatically perched just above the Atlantic coastline, CHEFS WAREHOUSE AT TINTSWALO is the ultimate dreamy indoor-outdoor location with the ultimate Tapas for Two menu to match. Dishes are inspired by the best of local small producers, pulling from choice seasonal ingredients, whether they be white clams, artichokes or smoked Stanford cheese.
